Alterations and Additions to Lawrence School

Brookline, Massachusetts

This project, which George Claflen designed as an employee of Arrowstreet, Inc., involved the complete replanning of the building to work as a brand new school, while renovating most of the space and incorporating a small addition. The educational program emphasized open flowing spaces, particularly for the lower, less specialized classes. These were provided largely in the addition.

The school enjoyed a marvelous urban site, which enabled the addition with the kindergarten to directly link to a public park area.
